Will we ever see a teenager win a Slam again?
Sharapova's triumph at the 2006 USO was the last time a teenaged player won a Grand Slam tournament. Ivanovic will be 20 y.o. by the end of this season, and with her goes, IMO, the last realistic chance of a teenager again winning a Grand Slam tournament in the coming years.
The AER has limited the experience (and the ranking points) teenagers can obtain on their first few years on the Tour, and has arguably made it tougher for them to breakthrough as early as they once did.
Also, none of the 1989-1991 age group players seem to fulfil the requirements of the true supernova: huge weapons for instant success. Some of them (like say Szavay) already have good all-around games and can develop into excellent, versatile players, but that will take time. They don't have that big weapon that makes you look at them and instantly recognize a potential world beater. The exception is perhaps Vaidisova, but her game has obvious limitations, and she has so far been unable to give that extra step to prove that she can be a contender.
Will we ever see a teenager win a Grand Slam tournament again? If so, who? When?
If no teenager wins a Slam ever again, I'll call this poll "the curse of Corswandt". Sort of like the curse of Béla Guttmann, according to which Benfica would never again win the European Champion's Cup. Benfica has already reached 5 finals of the Cup after Guttmann left the club, but lost all of them.
