Question If Justine had not split / broken up with Pierre earlier this year...

... would Justine be winning titles / slams, and be as dominant as now?

To me, the breakup was a good thing... it gives her more time to practice and train on court with Carlos, rather than wasting time doing something irrelevant with Pierre (like... shopping? ).

P,S: I feel that Justine decided to divorce Pierre after last year's USO loss to Maria... her look while sitting on the chair was like "I need to do something to improve my tennis... STAT!".

Since we're playing "what if" - I'd say that would depend on the state of the marriage and how happy she was in it.

As it seems like it was on the rocks, yes, breaking up probably helped her.

If she were still in love, and happy being married (and he DID make her very happy at one time, lets not forget), I'd bet the divorce would have had the opposite effect.

Reason is poor propaganda when opposed by the yammering, unceasing lies of shrewd and evil and self-serving men.

Well she certainly has more time to practice and hang out with Carlos now as she doesn't have the weight of having to be a domestic goddess resting on her shoulders any more

This thread is in poor taste. It's almost as bad as my "how long will Kim's marriage last" thread

Did Justine ever cite a precise reason as to why the marriage ended? I was just wondering.

I think it really helped her settle down, as she was able to reconnect with her family as a direct result.

I think her divorce did wonders for her. What player could play well with a bored, hateful queen with crossed arms sighing and groaning in her players box? Good riddance to that blouse-wearing diva!
