This is how the Williams Sisters interviews should read from now on.

Venus Williams def. Carolina Eshostakovichovantereva 6-0, 6-1

Question: Venus, you were almost untouchable today, weren't you?
Venus Williams: Not really. I feel very, very lucky to have gotten through this match today. It's a good thing that I got through in two sets because she started to really make a charge at 5-0 in the second set. Had it gone three, I might not have won.

Question: But Venus, you got 100% of your first serves in during the first set and you served at 87% during the second set.
V.W.: Sheer luck. Oh I'll take it mind you because you have to be lucky as well as good. Today I was perhaps a teeny, tiny bit better than she was but I was also very, very lucky.

Question: What do you think that your chances are to win the title this year?
V.W.: Well, if my luck holds out and my opponents don't play their best I might be able to get to the finals. But there are so many girls who are just so much better than I am now that it's hard to say. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Question: We noticed that you have your left wrist taped. Is it bothering you much?
V.W.: Oh no. Not at all. It's just a precaution. If I thought that I couldn't play, I would have withdrawn even though it would have let the fans down to not have seen a quarterfinal match.

Moderator: Thank you Venus.
V.W.: Thank you. And again I'm so happy that luck was on my side today. I just hope that it stays with me.

Venus Williams loses to Ana Elderinganina 6-1,6-1

Question: Well Venus how does it feel to have lost in the semis after being so close?
Venus Williams: Well, she clearly is the best player in the world right now. I played as well as I've ever played in my career. So while I'm disappointed, I lost to the best player today. So that's not so bad.

Question: But Venus, you served at 38%, you had only one ace and 16 double faults. You also had 12 winners and 64 UFES. How can you say that you played as well as you ever have?
V.W.: Well, all through my career, I've made a lot of errors. She just did what any champion would do. She took advantage of them and she never let me play my game. She just flat out beat me today. She's just too good.

Question: Venus are you pulling our legs?
V.W.: Of course not. You win some and you lose some. I like to give credit where credit is due. I don't believe in the "I beat myself" theory. Maybe when I was younger, I did, but she clearly outplayed me today and she deserved to win. I hope that she goes on to take the championship.

Moderator: Thank you Venus.
V.W.: Thank you. And I really, really want to thank the WTA for allowing me the chance to meet with all of you wonderful people in the press. After all it's only because of you guys that it's possible for us to enjoy making a living playing a game that we love. I love you guys.

EDIT: I forgot to post the score in the loss.

oh dear

is this supposed to be funny?

oh well, it's better than "all credit to her but....*enter excuses here*" which is a bit like people saying, "I'm not a racist but ...."

Everything you do continues long after you've gone

Re: This is how the Williams Sisters interviews should read from now on.

Q: We noticed you called the trainer. Physically do you feel 100% fit?

VW: (laughing) Oh Im just fine! I've never been injured in my entire career! I've never even had a headache during a match. Of course when everyone else calls the trainer there's obviously something wrong with them. But not me! Whenever I've been off the tour, it's not really because I'm injured. It's just because all the other players are so superior to me in every way, I just have to take a break.

VW: Is that all the questions? Do any of you need a shoe shine? I can sing and dance too, Wanna See?

Well, if I were their PR person this would be the standard interview. I suspect that it would make people like you very happy. Of course then, no doubt, you'd find something else to bitch about.

Ha ha like that would ever happen, nor should it. If you can't even get them to be gracious, you sure as hell won't get them to kiss somebody's ass.

It would be better than the trash that they both currently spew.
