Disrespect for Svetlana Kuznetsova?

Why are so many people here disrespecting her? I mean she proved she can beat almost everyone on a good day (except Serena) so how can people write she's the worst thing that could've happened to Women's tennis? Look at her Miami run in 2006 for example. She used to be a headcase and upset prone but that changed a lot this year her worst loss was Alona Bondarenko (#40 that tzime) in Warsaw and her second worst came against Lucie Safarova (#32 at that ime ) in Paris and they both made final there. Her other losses came against Srebotnik (by ret.,beat her once) ,Peer (x2,beat her once) ,Henin (x2,beat her once),Venus (beat her once), Hantuchova (beat her once) ,Ivanovic (x2) ,Jankovic ,Golovin. And Jankovic,Ivanovic,Henin ( bothtimes),Venus,Hantuchova won the tourney.Safarova,Bondarenko were in the final. She only failed to make quarters thrice this year in Sydney,Melbourne and Miami. So how can people say it's horrible she got to #2 this season?

I think she'' not even in her best form and yes the draw helped but she's still able make the Final of NÝ.And no I don''tthink she can beat Justine today, but I just want to tell that i think she's a lot better than what people make her to be.

Rest in Peace Bally!

It's a lopsided draw. Sveta is fortunate to be here, but she beat Justine the last time they played.

The most wasted of all days is one without laughter....
Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there

Of course but just in genereal to say Sveta doesn't deserve to be #2 seems horrible to me she's beaten all great players of this era except Serena

I don't have a problem with Sveta. I don't think she'll win the final, but if she's #2, she deserves to be there.

Re: Disrespect for Svetlana Kuznetsova?

That's not disrespecting, that's underestimating. Justine is getting disrespected, it's a shame how posters on this board treat Justine. As for Svetlana, I don't think she is being underestimated, she is generally acknowlegded for being a subtop player. It's just that sometimes some players are not in the spotlights, because other more exciting & important things are happening I guess. I had the feeling all along the USO, Svetlana would silently reach the semi and/or final, and she did.

* Patty Schnyder * Dinara Safina * Elena Dementieva * Vika Azarenka * Katarina Srebotnik * Dominica Cibulkova * Ashley Harkleroad * Sabine Lisicki * Nicole Vaidisova * Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova * Sesil Karatantcheva *

Re: Disrespect for Svetlana Kuznetsova?

That's what I am saying

They keep putting her down like "She is the worst No. 2 in history!" or "How many games will she win against Justine?"

She earned being No. 2 in the world and I hope that she can push Justine tonight.

So did Dementieva and Myskina It proves nothing.
Only her results over the last 52 weeks do matter. And thanks to them Sveta will be No.2.

Re: Disrespect for Svetlana Kuznetsova?

Nastya and LenaD are great players too once LenaD serve is on she can compete but her serve is like always said her BIG BIG problem.Nastya's career got a huge down in Athens 2004 I think she never recovered from that

That's just a matter of frustration. The better a player is - the more negative threads there are about her. As soon as people start bashing you on these boards you know you've got it made.

Kuznetsova can win the tournament. I don't think she will, but it's not impossible. Beating both Serena and Venus is a real emotional high for Justine and it's going be interesting to see if she can maintain the same competitive edge for three matches in a row, and without a day between the semis and the final to recuperate at that. She will need to IMO. If she comes out flat today a Kuznetsova who has got nothing to lose (as the cliché goes) could do some serious damage.

Well, Sveta is one of the players this board chooses to ignore. I have always said that she's the best Russian player out there. She can struggle mentally against the top player but she can do everything with a ball. She's very talented and I think she and Ivanovic will be in the top three for a long time after the Williams sisters and Henin have retired.

I agree with her being the most talented Russian. Sharapova still deserves to be called "the best" on the basis of her big wins IMO. Sveta should definitely lose some weight though. She would be amazed what being just that half a step faster could do for her.

Re: Disrespect for Svetlana Kuznetsova?

Well, she earned the 2nd rank, because Ivanovic had to play Venus in the 4th round, because Jankovic had to play Venus in the quarters, when she had to play way weaker opponents. And maybe because Serena had to face 3 times Justine in the quarters of GS etc.
And what did she really do this year ? I can't remember.

Of course, it's not her fault that she's number 2, but TO ME, Serena, Venus, Jankovic, Ivanovic, maybe Sharapova too had a better year than her.

It's not really disrespect, but I just can't consider her as the 2nd best player in the world.

Not only the board, the media in general. The TV networks completely ignore her, even though she's a US open champion. And then when she makes it to the final, which isn't a surprise at all considering she's made several grand slam finals, they suddenly come to the realisation that the ratings will be very low because there's an 'unknown' in the final. If the TV networks aren't happy, it's their own fault for constantly hyping the same players and ignoring the rest.

Everything you do continues long after you've gone
