Even if Justin loses on Saturday, would she still have "won"?

In terms of her place in tennis history?

Venus: US Open Champ (2000, 2001) Wimbledon Champ (2000, 2001, 2005, 2007)

Yes, she'll go down as the player who choked away the US Open in 2007 after becoming only the second player ever to defeat both Williams sisters in a GS event.

justine needs to win, if she wants to be considered "arguably" the best of her generation. i would think if justines healthy she will be full of confidence and cruise.

Justine won POY this tournament. But she wants the most majors in this era, so this final is big to her.
Her biggest loss was the Wimbledon final when she was up a set vs Amelie. She let that get away.
So it can happen again.

The most wasted of all days is one without laughter....
Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there
Enjoy This Moment!!

People will still remember her accomplishment, just like people are looking back at Martina's effort in 2001 at the Aus Open. It's pretty rare to beat both Williams, especially back to back.

Good Luck Radwanska Sisters!

Sorana Cirstea - Stefanie Voegele - Michelle Larcher de Brito - Alexandra Dulgheru

Martina I will miss you!!

No.1 both in singles & doubles for 35 weeks. (1 of 5)

Chris Evert Queen of the WTA!

Well, No. Justine needs that trophy for any of this shit to be worth anything.

Although even if she loses, it was a great effort.

I agree, it would be major disappointment for Justine if she is not able to take the title today. Winning the tournament is only thing what really matters.
By the way, does anyone know, if some tennis player has similar or better head to head record in GS tournaments against Williams sisters during one calendar year (4:0) ?

Re: Even if Justin loses on Saturday, would she still have "won"?

Wins over Serena and Venus makes headlines and cause the commentators stir things up a bit but Justine's goal wasn't to beat the sisters but to win the tournament and she hasn't accomplished her goal yet. Venus said the same thing. Wins over Serena and Venus gets us to post about how rare it is but the prize has yet to be won. Kuzzy will show up tonight and fight like hell so may the best win.
