What Venus and Serena needs...

They need to play more, period...if so, then they will see these same players and situations more often and know how to handle them in grand slams. the grand slams are simply extensions of the regular tour tourneys. i believe if they play more, then they won't feel the pressure as much when playing deep into grand slam draws. Venus could have done much more damage to Justine in this match. i think the leftovers from the Jankovic match had a lot to do with the final results of this one. thoughts......

I think Serena should learn how to hit lucky shots. Venus should learn to . . . never mind.

Both sisters sort of retired after their previous years on top, whether due to injuries or interests off the court they cut back their schedules. And so this is a comeback of sorts for both of them. Comebacks are alway difficult to regain the same top form you once had, especially if you don't want the daily grind of playing tournaments week after week, and practice after practice, and living out of a suitcase.

You mean WTA needs about 10-15 grand slams a year?

Yeah, I think they have to play more tournaments, and be 100% focused on tennis. This year proved they're still on the top of the game, so there's even a room for improvment IMO, I hope the'll stick around and provide us great matches. BTW, right now I realy want to see the Serena-Venus match-up.

Merci Justine!

Re: What Venus and Serena needs...

Well last year as well, Henin played well, she had to grind her way back to the top thru 2005. Sure she won the French that year, but she was out of wimbledon in the 1st round and then early at the US. But she played matches, then the following year she still played and got to the final of every grandslam. I think Serena and Venus if they just play more, they won't be soooo lost on the court and little lapses will happen less often. Sure Venus and Serena can win with out many matches, but the thing is when their having an off day--they go way off and look tentative, i just think that playing more will help.

I just hope they can continue to climb the ranks this year and close upon the top 5.

Venus Williams. Serena Williams.

Serena and Venus won slams this year. That's good enough for me.

It's hard to suggest what they need more than a new coach.

Re: What Venus and Serena needs...

If Serena has learned anything this year, it's that she cannot show up at Slams and win them anymore, that's one good thing about Justine beating her so many times this year I still don't think we'll see her until Australia But she needs to play more than the 4 Slams, Miami and 1/2 clay events...

Venus is committed 100%, I believe she'll play quite a few events this autumn...

Ivanovic * Kvitova * Serena
