"She doesn't like it when the player is moving when she serves..."

Radwanska said that about Sharapova right after the match, when asked why she stood so far up the court on Sharapova's 2nd serve.

That begs a few questions.

1) How did she know? I've never seen anybody do that Sharapova before.

2) How often is Sharapova going to see that same tactic. I doubt the Williams sisters, or Henin or Jankovic would bother, but non-slam winners outside the top ten are likely to try it.

3) I'd have expected the fact that Radwanska was moving when the serve was coming at her would affect her. Guess you learn something new every day.

Maybe she meant "pressure on her 2nd serve".

I mean when you're one step away from the serve line.
Even Bartoli would never go that far.

She might have figured so after trying the tactic a few times.

Well actually Ivanovic was using that tactic when they played in the French Open semis. She would move in tight when Sharapova was serving and bounce around a bit and by the time she was going through her actual service motion she moved back to receive the serve.

She outsmarted her, like Marion did against Justine...in different ways but they were just smart

Simona Halep
Juan Martin Del Potro

I like how she was putting pressure on Sharpie's second serve.

I remember Capriati doing that to Dementieva at the USO (2004) but it didn't really work out as well.

Ivanovic takes a weird position on the court when her opponent is serving.

Bartoli does step into the court quite a bit (noticed that against JH and Venus). Same with Razzano against Peer in Toronto. She really unerved her opponent.

Hence, these are not tactics that only Radwanska uses.

I'm sure other players will do the same versus Sharpie in the future.

However, it is necessary to consult me on all these matters (please call)”; “30 minutes prior to a training session: Mildronat – 1 Capsule. 30-45 minutes prior to a tournament Mildronat 2 capsules”.

Yeah that was a great tactic today. Wind does not help Flat hitters ala Sharapova. Too bad sharapova. But that girl what she had to. Step it up take the first ball and fight it. Good.

Venus Williams (The Queen) , Maria Sharapova (The Diva) , Lindsay Davenport (The Legend) , Jelena Janković (The Exotic Beauty) , Serena Williams (The Princess) , Ana Ivanovic (the REAL Promise)

Re: "She doesn't like it when the player is moving when she serves..."

She was up to the service line but moved back near the baseline just before the serve. I guess this distracted Maria and she would try to hit the second serve deeper that she would have. Anyway, the tactic apparently worked. This is not good for Maria's psyche.

Venus and Serena are all up in the baseline for her serve. This isn't new. They intimidate DFs from Sharapova all the time.

Maybe Maria needs to step up the power on her serve. I can't imaging somebody doing that to Venus or Serena unless they want their heads taken off with a 120 mph serve.

NOT the same thing. Venus and Serena move up on everybody's 2nd serve. But they don't move around. Radwanska was literally halfway to the service line, then she'd in different directions before finally retreating near the baseline. Ot may or may not be new, but it definitely is NOT what Venus and/or Serena do on Sharapova's 2nd serve.

It wasn't fair. She was trying to distract her!
