I got there a little early, bought a new t-shirt
and sat down. About ten seconds later they started warming up.
Just to start, Daniilidou's game should mean that she's ranked a little higher. Unfortunately her serve is just
She was regularly hitting first serves at around 80 mph, and second in the low 70's. She wasn't injured or anything, she's just got a bad serve. Agnes's serve is much better, I think her fastest (that she made) was an ace down the tee at like 111, and her second serves were almost always faster than Daniilidou's first serves. And, OMG, her backhand is absolutely
So, Agnes served first and held pretty comfortably, and then I think went up 0-30 on Daniilidou's serve, and it looked like she was going to win pretty easily. But Daniilidou won that game, and then we had a break fest
The next time anyone held was when Daniilidou was up 4*-3. Szavay then held and Daniilidou closed out the first set in a tight tenth game.
You could tell the tide was turning slightly and Agnes cut down on her errors and RACED through the second set. The momentum had completely shifted, Daniilidou double faulted a handful of times in the second set, and Agnes had won it easily.
In the third, both players were playing well. Daniilidou I believe went up 3-1, but Agnes stormed back and served for the match at 5-4. She got to 30-15 but really got tight and hit a few errors in a row.The crowd really seemed to be behind her, but it must've been a big moment for her. She broke and won the match on her second match point. Daniilidou did have a break point in the last game, but couldn't convert. Overall a REALLY entertaining match, it was a lot of fun.
