Because both Jelena Jankovic and Patty Schnyder, the only two players who could possibly overtake Maria in the standings, lost their matches today, Maria is officially the leader and uncatchable winner of the US Open Series...
ďIím not the next anyone. Iím the first Maria Sharapova...Ē

No, what I'm saying is that she's going to do it again.
I'm sure you didn't pick her last year either.
She was the best player on hardcourts that year. Why wouldn't I have picked her? I didn't even think Henin would reach the final, and the only player who I thought had a good chance at beating her on fast hardcourts was Serena. And we know what happened there...
Anyway, it's a much different year now.
I don't think Maria's a bad player. I just think there are four players right now who can, and will beat her when playing well.
No, actually, she won it last year. You know, as a Maria fan, you should really keep up to date on her title wins. Especially since they've been so few and far between recently.
Well dealt with!
I think with her serve and her athleticism, her power, her court mobility, I just think when sheís on, sheís the greatest player weíve ever seen, ever. Now, whether her record is the greatest remains to be seen because she hasnít retired yet. But I think she is really the greatest player. I have seen Martina and Steffi at their best. There are little chinks in those playersí armor, but it was a different era, where you didnít need to be the perfect player.
