Good win for Safarova, but an odd match. For anyone that may have seen it, was Lucie spraying her shots everywhere? I'm trying to understand why it was so difficult for her. At least she was able to take control of third set somewhat impressively.

Win's a win, but really, how did she lose a set?

@ the 2nd set.

even in this form she can beat them.

mara is injured and meghann is, well, meghann.
i'm waiting on her to get in the top 20, but she seems to be stalling right now.

Good momentum at the end from Lucie, and clean service games in the first set.

She was only broken once, but her first serve percentage was worrisomely low. Not that many dfs, considering.

Along with first serve it's her return game (and especially her return I'd guess) that is keeping her stalled. Her numbers against Lepchenko's first serve were bad.

Step it up and keep winning Lucie!

Sometimes it takes Lucie a minute to find her form and other times she can start hot and go off the boil. Once she can learn to find that consistency on a regular basis she'll have more routine wins in the early stages. That's when she'll also be more of a constant threat to the top players too. She's got all the needed firepower and she's good defensively. Only thing really missing is consistency and that'll come.

She's been having her best year to date and it's not too hard to imagine her breaking into the top 10 sometime next year if she keeps improving and stays healthy.
