....Be a threat if she comes back now? They hit almost exactly the same and Seles can't be in any worse shape than Bartoli and I don't think Baroli's shots are that hard compared to Seles'. What do you guys think?

No.

No she is not in the same league as Seles.
Just stop and yourelseves these 2 questions:
  1. She is 23 now, how come have we not heard from her before?
  2. She only played like Seles against Justine and two other round before that, why can't she always play like this?
Let us wait see.
Will she go back to obscurity and continue this ride she started at Wimby.
We have seen players like her before.
The pattern is the same. They make a big splash at Wimby, which raise expectations, then vanished into anonimity.

Dokic, Sprem, Alex Stevenson, just a short list.

I'd like to think that Marion will continue her form. She has been playing good tennis since May and has a 22-6 record from her last six tournament. I think she can continue this form much like Jankovic did last year, but I don't think she'll make such an impact as Jelena has made.

I think it's a very legitimate question. I don't think Bartoli's strokes are any better than present day Seles. Yes she moves better, but some of that lack of movement would be obviated by her power. I think it might still be possible for an in shape Monica seles to make a deep run at a major, provided she's zoning and gets lucky along the way. It's worth considering.

From what I've been told by numerous people who attended the Monica Seles v.s. Martina Navratilova exo, is that Monica is moving way better than before, has lost alot of weight, still hits the cover off the ball, still uses amazing angles, the only thing they said that she really needed to work on was the serve. I was told the serve wasn't penetrating like it used to. But we all know how Monica thinks, and when she sees Marion,Anastasia,Kuzzy making slam finals and winning some of them then she knows she has a chance(that's what Mike Sell said(her former coach)

Seles' time has come and gone. A comback would just look silly at this point. We must remember that she is not Bartoli and that even if she was, Bartoli has not yet proven herself.

Seles is looking probably better than she ever has if you got a chance to see some of her recent pics http://www.viewimages.com/Search.aspx?mid=73773556&epmid=3&partner=Google. That doesn't mean her body can still take the punishment, however. I did find this article that's kind of interesting:

Her love of tennis is enough temptation for Monica Seles to follow Wimbledon.

The emotional aspect, however, limits her TV viewing.

"I've only watched bits and pieces. It's not my favorite thing to do, because part of me still wishes I was there," said Seles, during a recent interview in advance of a Sept. 14 exhibition match against Martina Navratilova at the New Orleans Arena.
Seles has stuck with a rigorous training regimen each day, in hopes of regaining elite status. For now, she'll take a peak at the climactic end of Wimbledon.

I'm quite skeptical about her success, but wish her nothing but good fortune if she does return.

I doubt Seles could just miracally comeback and play like Bartoli after such a long layoff. It would take a while before she can control her power again, work on her movement, etc.

She's not that young as we all know and would need time to climb back up the ranks. So to see if she could impose her game again like Bartoli did at Wimbledon is unrealistic. I wish it would happen, but it's pretty unlikely.

She wouldn't need time to climb up the rankings, that is what Gold Exempt Emeritus Status is for.

Lindsay did her best to avoid the top players until the later rounds which is why she reached for the number one ranking in 2004 and 2005.
It didn't help her to win the biggest titles, it just helped her to avoid the top players she had issues with.

So there's no reason for her to go up the rankings, she's going to have to beat the best sometime or another, might as well be sooner, that is if she decided to come back on tour.
