This year has gone from bad to worse, she's the worst player right now in the top 10!

The worst player in the top 10?! Erm, no, she definitely isn't. :)

Just don't reply to crappy threads like these. These kind of threads would die off if Sharapova fans stopped coming into them and typing in their new defence of the day like she's so mentally tough or some crap like that. Of course she'll win a title this year. That consolatory thought should stop you from replying to these threads.

Why did you have she'll get lucky, shes the world no.2, it will only take time until she's injured..it'll be longer before Britney stops being a loon.

i actualy think that yes she will get lucky is right as i think if she does win a title this year it will be in the indoor season and it will be because venus, serena, henin and mauresmo wont play that many indoor tourns if any, so she will feast on scraps there like she did last year!

If there's a Williams sister in the same tournament that she's playing, she won't win;)

Why do so many retards lurk on these boards, posting crap like this thread? It's obvious people like the thread starter haven't a clue about tennis.

the us open 2006 the defending champion wasnt there, the runner up from 05 was just coming back off injury, venus missed it, serena was half the player she is now (but was twice the size!), henin missed most of the hardcourt season injured and didnt play again after the us open untill the year end championships (where she was fit and beat maria in straight sets!), jankovic was only just begining to realise her potential and was not there still mentaly, and davenport had to miss all but 1 of the warm up events because of her injuries so lets face it it wasnt a full field and some of the players there weren't the players they are now!
Blah. Blah. Blah. Excuses. excuses. excuses. Maria won - beating the World No 1 and 2 back to back. And she's been injured ever since January and STILL made her best ever place in the French and the final of the Australian Open.

why is your opinion more valid than mine! i think she won the us open with a weakend field the same way kirilenko did at the china open in 05! im not saying she didnt win it which you seem to be eluding to but that she had an easier time of it than shes having this year! in the us open 06 did she beat a william sister no! she has been thrashed by them this year in 2 of the 3 slams! in my opinion 04 and after wimbledon 06 to the end of season championships is the weakest the tours been since 2000 and sharapovas won both her slams in this time thats my opinion when you ask me who i think is gona win a slam maria is 5/6 on the list as she needs injury, fatiuged or the abscence of the 5 above her because if they are in top form she will lose to them but there will probably be another slam before shes 25 where her draw opens up the top players have been injured are out and she will win another slam!

Maria always seems to do better in the US hardcourt season/Asia hardcourt season (San Diego; US Open 2006, Japan Outdoors 2004/2005, Seoul 2005) and then often wins titles indoors towards the end of the season (Linz 2006, Quebec City,2004)

She will win at least two titles this year, I'm sure of it.

No player deserves anything. They should be able to earn it.

Yes.

Maria hasn't really been that bad this year. She just hasn't done too well outside of the slams. Had it not been for Serena she might have won her third grand slam, she got very far after being lucky at the French Open, and Venus demolished her at Wimbledon. I think Maria might get away with one or two titles this year. I don't think she will defend her US Open title. This year so far has not been as good as previous years for her but she is still consistent in grand slams. That means something.

She will end the year with a title but for me US Open is pushing it, but i would love her to win it again!

If being #6 at the race 2007 is a bad year thatmeans that only 5 players have a good year :|

The standards are different for Maria than some of the other girls because she has won slams before (and recently). For someone with her credentials not to win a title even after playing in tier III's is a, well, slump/disaster. Whatever you want to call it.
