The Williamses At Wimbledon

For 9 of the past 10 years, there has been at least ONE Williams sister playing for a championship. Together they have won: 6 singles crowns, 4 doubles titles, a mixed doubles title, and appeared in 3 other singles final and a mixed doubles final

Here's a quick look at their dominance of the lawns of Wimbledon:

1998 Mixed Doubles:

Serena Williams/
Max Mirnyi d. Mahesh Bhupathi/Mirjana Lucic 6-4 6-4

2000 Womens' Singles:

Venus Williams d.
Lindsay Davenport 6-3 7-6(3)

2000 Womens' Doubles:

Serena Williams/Venus Williams d.
Julie Halard/Ai Sugiyama 6-3 6-2

2001 Womens' Singles

Venus Williams d.
Justine Henin 6-1 3-6 6-0

2002 Womens' Singles

Serena Williams d. Venus Williams 7-6(4) 6-3

2002 Womens' Doubles

Serena Williams/Venus Williams d.
Virgina Ruano Pascual/Paola Suarez 6-2 7-5

2003 Womens' Singles

Serena Williams d. Venus Williams 4-6 6-4 6-2

2004 Women' Singles

Maria Sharapova d. Serena Williams 6-1 6-4

2005 Womens' Singles

Venus Williams d.
Lindsay Davenport 4-6 7-6(4) 9-7

2006 Mixed Doubles

Andy Ram/Vera Zvonareva d. Bob Bryan/Venus Williams 6-3 6-2

2007 Womens' Singles

Venus Williams d.
Marion Bartoli 6-4 6-1

With such an awesome stranglehold on Wimbledon, here's hoping it continues for a VERY long time

They are amazing. I was so glad Venus made the mixed final last year to keep the streak going. It'e been Venus in the last few years, Serena you need to step it up now!

Shame Venus lost that mixed doubles final, then both of them would have won the singles, doubles and mixed championships I hopes she goes for it again...

Re: The Williamses At Wimbledon

I know this has nothing to do with Williams sister domination of the oule wimbers but an interesting factoid is that the 2004, 2005, 2006 & 2007 womens finals all ended with a forehand in the net...i seen the match points of 04, and 05 a while back...it's just quite interesting...or maybe not lol....didn't see 2004..match point though.

I think with her serve and her athleticism, her power, her court mobility, I just think when she’s on, she’s the greatest player we’ve ever seen, ever. Now, whether her record is the greatest remains to be seen because she hasn’t retired yet. But I think she is really the greatest player. I have seen Martina and Steffi at their best. There are little chinks in those players’ armor, but it was a different era, where you didn’t need to be the perfect player.

Actually I think that Vee might have wanted to not win the title with the Bryan brother who told her right before they played he wanted to play with someone else for the US Open. It was something like that. It sounded like a pay back.

Today's final didn't end with a FH in the net
