is the Bartoli name Italian?

I have a friend that said he has cousins with the Bartoli name and he said they are italian? So i looked it up on the house of names website and it said it is Italian. So is Marion ethnically Italian with a French nationality? Anyone in the know, can you please explain.

Some geography...

Yes, his father is from corsica (corse), a french island next to france and italy, he's french. And Marion was born and raised in auvergne, center of france.

It's Corsican,it has italian roots for sure because before Corsica belonged to the Genovese republic and italian was the official language until 1858

With this final, Marion joins the ranks of the famous Bartolis. Both of whom are Italian (Cecilia the singer and Michele the former UCI #1 cyclist).

Re: is the Bartoli name Italian?

Corsican and Sardinian are practically their own ethnicity. Sardinian is a separate language (not even a dialect, a language) from Italian, and Corsica has tons of Italian influences, including Italian heritage. So, while Bartoli is French in nationality, and has been for ages, she is most likely, at least on her father's side, a little bit Italian.

One of the best things about French is that they typically don't even differentiate between the different ethnicities; everyone is just French.

Re: is the Bartoli name Italian?

Maybe she immigrated? Bartoli does sound a lot more Italian than French.
