Is injury gonna hinder Venus again?

Glad to see Venus a Grand Slam champ again, but now she has yet another injury that was even noticable during the awards ceremony. Winning another WImbledon has got to be sweet but I am just wondering what we are gonna see from her the rest of 2007.

Congrats Vee and get well QUICKLY!!!

Re: Is injury gonna hinder Venus again?

Well I'm very doubtful for Venus playing FED CUP.
I would say that Serena is a bit questionable there herself.

So Meilen Tu and Laura Granville might want to get ready, they might be getting their chance to play for their country.

This is the reason why I felt Zina could have been a little more cordial to the players, you never know when something might come up and change things.

that's what I was thinking too. But Venus is very dedicated to Zina and will do everything she can to get healthy and play fedcup. Her leg was def. hurting her. She was still walking with a limp during her post match interview with Bud. And she said she had a lot of pain in her leg.

Yes, but she also said that she thinks her leg just needs some rest! Playing four days in a row really takes a toll on your body! Hopefully it's a minor injury that will get better soon!

I don't think she's that dedicated.

She already got screwed before by Zina.
Zina should have known that without Lindsay in that FED CUP semis (which Lindsay was doubtful for anyway since it was on clay), that Venus would have had to take all the load of the team on herself after winning Wimbledon in 2005.

She let her do it. I wouldn't have done it myself. I would have just put in some other players and just focus on next year.

Venus then played Stanford after that and was tired and she played that way for the rest of the year.

If Serena doesn't play, I don't think Venus is playing.

I don't even think Venus will play even if Serena plays.
They're playing the Russians, if she's not 100% I wouldn't even consider it.
She'll likely reaggrevate this injury she has now.

Re: Is injury gonna hinder Venus again?

I think both of them need rest. All players need the rest. FO is such a tough surface and the rain and conditions at Wimby took a physical toll on all the players. It's about time for some rest.

Re: Is injury gonna hinder Venus again?

When is FedCup? In about a week or so? Nonsense. Venus, perhaps also Serena, should be telling Zina now to find replacement. Both should do like Federer and rest for 2 if not 3 weeks.

Someone is quietly turning back the clock...to them bulldozer dayz...

Always on the lookout for a great tennis match.

It's a week from now. Yes.

Absolutely agree with you. Both are not ready to play in a week or two weeks from now. Venus was laboring in the 2nd set, primarily due to muscle strain after having to play four straight days in a row. You could tell by how long she took to serve between serves and how heavy she was breathing and laboring. In addition, in her interview she indicated that she was done and could not play another day. Zina should find replacements.

Venus should also consider skipping WTT. It fucks with her schedule and imo, she should stick to playing tour events and nothing else the rest of the year. What is her schedule anyhoo? San Diego and LA?

hmm, yes they love zina so much. and they love fedcup and representing their country and they know what is at stake. so i give it a 50/50 chance wether they're playing or not.

More like 20/80.
Why would Venus put herself in the same situation she had to deal with in 2005?

That doesn't make any sense.
This is not like playing the Belgians without Henin where only you have to stand there and that should be enough to win.

Venus and Serena will have to beat one top ten player likely not 100% with both of them likely wanting to rest to prepare for the US Open.

I hope this is the case also. She should forget fedcup and WTT. I think this is just too much right after two weeks of a major. Poor Hank, I don't think there will be much celebration going on tonight.

Re: Is injury gonna hinder Venus again?

Of course Venus is injured right before I get to see her play in Fed Cup, which I am going to see next week, and then right before WTT too which I am going to see in a couple weeks
