I was wrong about Venus and Marion Bartoli

Well everyone will take their shots at me but I can admit I was wrong.
Marion Bartoli is talented and she made a very competitive match. I still feel though Marion can become a force if she gets into better shape. Marion clearly got tired today. If Marion can get into a better physical condition she may be able to become a force in women's tennis. She is young she has time.

I was wrong about Venus as well and I admit that. I just thought Venus played kind of bad in her first round and third round matches almost losing both. I guess I should of known by now you simply cannot count out Venus Williams or Serena Williams. The Williams Sisters have proven they don't need to play a lot to still win grand slam titles.

I was so upset about Venus performance on clay this year and yes everyone was right you guys said clay was not her best surface.

I just thought Venus form was so scratchy I actually thought Serena or Justine was going to win Wimbledon. Venus serve became a weapon again as did her forehand. One thing I did notice was Venus really played a very smart match. Just like when Venus played Monica Seles she used the smart tactic to open the court with both her forehands and backhands moving Bartoli wide and not allowing her to get power on her shots. Venus also used slice keeping the ball low and serving the ball into Bartoli.

Well everyone was right I was wrong and I know it.

Re: I was wrong about Venus and Marion Bartoli

I was too emotional during the French Open and frustrated with Venus play. I should of just kept my feelings to myself. I was so upset about Venus performance on clay but everyone said don't be because its Venus worst surface. But grass is Venus best surface and Venus has proven with her fourth Wimbledon title she is the best grass court player of her generation and the Queen of Wimbledon.

Bartoli is a real talent she clearly is a spirited fighter and she had huge upsets over Jankovic and over Henin. The win over Justine really puts Marion Bartoli at another level she may be able to challenge the top women at slams. Bartoli has mental toughness you can see she is a fighter and believes she can beat anyone. The score is decpetive the match lasted 90 minutes.

Venus played contained tennis today she didn't over do it she played within herself and she won. Venus deserves credit for knocking off Sharapova, Kuznetsova, and Ivanovic. Venus really is a legend and an all time great. It was confirmed once again today Venus enters super elite territory she has 4 Wimbledon titles and now she's at an even higher level of legend. If Venus can stay healthy she will compete for more slams. Venus confidence has been restored.
