So now that wimbledon is done who is the favorite team going into the USA vs Russia SF tie this is the first time that the Americans have a pretty good team put together here after Wimbledon but Russia has Sharapova playing for the first time and 3 other players all in the top 10

USA
Serena Williams
Venus Williams
Lisa Raymond
Vania King

Russia
Maria Sharapova
Svetlana Kuznetsova
Nadia Petrova
Anna Chakvetadze

Petrova and Kuznetsova will likely play doubles against Raymond and King and Venus and Serena will take on Maria and Anna potential for some good matches if the WS can rest up before the tie in the USA.

WHO WILL WIN?!?!?!?!?

I don't think Serena will be fit enough to play. If I was Zina I would get Shaughnessy and team her up with Raymond for doubles. Venus would def. need to win both her singles matches to get it to the decisive doubles. I pick The US 3-2. I'm surprised the US never picks grass as a surface

During Wimbledon 2005 Lindsay Venus and Serena were all supposed to show up.
Only Venus showed, Myskina beat her, and Russia won the tie, then beat France in a sold out Chatrier to win the title.

if both williams sisters do play then the US will win, if only one plays than russia will win

the russians arent exactly playing well so i think they will struggle-if sveta can keep the form she showed against venus then russia may stand a chance but maria, nadia and chaky were a bit dodgy last week to put it politely

I can see Serena withdrawing and possibly Svetlana if she really is injured but Vee said she was going to try and be there unless she physically couldnt do it so I think we'll see her play Fed Cup and then not play again until LA or San Diego
