Jonas: "My wife doesn't mind me being Anna's partner"

Jonas goes stare crazy

JONAS BJORKMAN has the job every man craves - playing mixed doubles with Anna Kournikova.

But the lucky Swede insists his wife Petra gave him the idea of teaming up with the Russian sex bomb.

Bjorkman has one of the toughest tasks in sport when he tries to concentrate on serving with her rear end bobbing up and down in front of him.

Yet he admits he loves appearing with Kournikova, 21, in front of noisy packed houses - even if none of the cheers are for him.

Bjorkman said: "My wife doesn't mind me being Anna's mixed doubles partner as it was her idea in the first place.

"Anna and I both had the same agent and when it was suggested we got together, my wife was all in favour.

"She said if I played with Anna, we would always play in front of enthusiastic crowds. She was right about that. Anna never plays in front of three men and a dog.

"It seems everybody loves her and everyone seems to want to marry her. I've lost count of the amount of marriage proposals she gets."

Bjorkman, 30, first teamed up with Kournikova four years ago and they have reached the Wimbledon final and the Australian Open semis.

The Swede's union with the superbabe - they are seventh seeds this year - is envied by most of his rivals on the tour.

They face a quarter-final against third seeds Mahesh Bhupathi of India and Russian Elena Likhovtseva.

Bjorkman added: "There are plenty of men who would like to change places with me. If they want to offer me a lot of money, I might consider letting them."

in the Oz open of 2001 Eurosport let Jonas do a daily sketch(?) on their "behind the scenes" program. he has such a good sense of humor! he would immitate a different player every day. such a cool guy.

It's too soon to aim for peace. Aim for better conflict management.
