Sharapova had 'shoulder injury' or she just wasn't good enough?

I see the 'shoulder injury' becoming just the main excuse Maria gives for her losses.

Evident from her early round interviews, wasn't she already much happier since she was improving so much? Case in point, her match against Bremond. She appeared to be serving and hitting really well. Yet, when she fails to advance, she attributes a number of reasons: shoulder injury (which is most common), nothing worked for her that day and her failure to take advantage of opportunities. On the other hand, players probably raised their game to another level when playing Sharapova. Therefore, may be she had a bad day and couldn't try to keep with the level. In other words, she couldn't raise her game when she needed to. Time and again, she has lost quite easily to the Williams sisters in Grand Slams. After all, she's probably not as mentally tough as one might think.

It's too obvious that there's something physically wrong with her that has been there since the AO. Her serve is just not the same, and her groundstrokes don't have the same bite anymore, though they aren't as affected as the serve. Her serve before the rain delay was absolutely dismal. She was slicing the second and she reminded me of Dementieva even. After the delay, it was a bit better, but nothing like the old Maria serve. So yes, I do believe the shoulder injury problem.

There was something wrong with it's just odd...i mean she can still hit 110mph serves and people use the injury as an excuse for when she dumps less hard hit balls into the net. She isn't using the injury so why should you expect that problem. She was just outclassed. From what i can see her injury didn't impeed her at all. She managed to beat Vee in Miami when she was injured.....yesterday or whenever the match was now...she was just outplayed. Hope the shoulder has fully recovered though.

I think with her serve and her athleticism, her power, her court mobility, I just think when she’s on, she’s the greatest player we’ve ever seen, ever. Now, whether her record is the greatest remains to be seen because she hasn’t retired yet. But I think she is really the greatest player. I have seen Martina and Steffi at their best. There are little chinks in those players’ armor, but it was a different era, where you didn’t need to be the perfect player.

It doesn't matter. Players can play a bad match when they are healthy.
Sharapova won 2 majors, and she's also been beaten badly in some big matches.
She'll have her moments again.

The most wasted of all days is one without laughter....
Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there
Enjoy This Moment!!

I think the injury is almost healed but she is not serving in full since she will need time. even if she is experiencing a small pain, it does the damage esp. if venus was playing that well. anyways, she would have lost to venus even if she had been fit but would have put up a better fight.
