Venus playing a defensive game this year??

I've just watched the us open final between v and s and then rewatched todays final, one thing stands out straight away, venus plays a far more defensive game in this final, now this may to an extent been due to an improvement in serena's game, however even when venus had controll of a point today she wasn't going for the biggest shot she could hit, whereas in the us open she was, their was hardly any comprimise in that match whereas today on groundstokes i felt as though when she had controll of a point (which was limited) she was holding back, which led to serena taking controll of the point since she was not comprimisng in how hard she hit.

Venus in the usopen was over powering serena, whereas today serena was over powering her, firstly has anyone else noticed this change in the way the two finals were played, and if so is it do with serena hitting the ball harder than last year or venus changeing her game or the way she hit's her goundstrokes.

We've been discussing that very point. C'mon over!
