Serena = Kim = Davenport

I see a trend coming up.

At Miami Justine choked a win away, but it was already clear that Justine had the upperhand in a tournament where she hadn't had any success in the past (I think Justine would have won if it would have been played in Doha).

In the beginning Kim and Lindsay trashed Justine at no end.

Then Justine began to counter their powerful play and Kim and Lindsay got frustrated. They couldn't understand why they were beaten every time.

Serena still doesn't see it, because she has won at Miami, but I think it's going to become very difficult for her to beat Justine in future.

She will try to hit harder and harder and the balls will return every time. After a couple of matches she will lose faith and think that it's impossible to beat her (just like what happened with Kim and Lindsay).

Hum, mentally, Kim and Lindsay are not in the same league as Serena. I would definitely not count her out.

Re: Serena = Kim = Davenport

Nope..Serena's much much mentally tougher than Kim and Lindsay. Might be more difficult to beat Justine now..but Serena lives for challenges. I'm sure she'll go back and reflect on this loss..try to figure somethings out.

Re: Serena = Kim = Davenport

no, i think you're kinda wrong here.
Serena is nothing like Lindsay and even less like Kim.
i think she proved it enough. Alos, Serena's serve is like 10x as good as Kim's and 5x as good as Lindsay's.
I agree tho, that justine has the game to frustrate Serena, but nothing "more".

^^

Seriously I think Serena is a real fighter, even when she's not 100% fit, just looking at the end of the match yesterday showed it. So I am surely not counting her out in any future encounter against JH.

Re: Serena = Kim = Davenport

I think what you say is true from Justine's perspective. I think choking away matches to Kim/Linds/Serena fired her up and made her more able to beat them.

But I don't think she will dominate Serena the way that she did Kim and Lindsay. Justine will beat Serena again but I also think that Serena will beat Justine again.

My goodness! I assume everybody watched the match, but if you didn't you really should stop posting this kind of nonsense. Kim = Davenport = Serena? This is the most ignorant post I've read all week.

Re: Serena = Kim = Davenport

Very nice words from some posters here.

I definitely think that Serena/Justine are FIRMLY in Jen/Serena territory right now. So:

Here's the rivalry we were all waiting for. I hope both are healthy for the summer/fall, because that could produce some tennis.

Career Grand Slam in your 20s? Been there done that. Career golden slam your 30s?
There's only 1.
Serena.

Re: Serena = Kim = Davenport

Serena is much tougher than Lindsay or Kim and she still has a few years left, so she'll be fired up to get another win the next time they meet. However, Justine will also be ready to face her!

Serena understands what has happened and she also understands the remedies. It is up to her to climb back on top. Will she? I believe in her so yes.

Exactly! I wish all the backlash and whining on the board would stop. Let us enjoy the tennis instead. These are the kind of matches people pay to see.

True rivalry now..Serena will get some, Justine will get some..at least they are meeting consistently. 3 times already this year in big matches.

In '04 Sharapova did the same thing (beating Serena in straights and then in three when she was injured.) Now look. No biggie.

Re: Serena = Kim = Davenport

I RARELY agree w/ supergrunt, but people did think that Sharapova was going to start pwning Serena, and then after Oz....well we all know what happened after the 2005 Aussie Open SF.
