Re: VENUS and SERENA withdraw from doubles

It's what needed to be done. For Serena and her injuries and for Venus to really concentrate on what is important in her singles.

the doubles draw does not reflect a walkover

Re: VENUS and SERENA withdraw from doubles

Probably better decision. Serena has to recover and Venus will concentrate on singles.

Ruano-Pascual/Medina-Garrigues will be happy

Re: VENUS and SERENA withdraw from doubles

That was expected. Get well soon, Serena.

They were so excited about playing doubles again in 4 years. That's a very long time. Everytime they were asked about the doubles, they both had big smiles on their faces of how much they appreciated the WC they were given to get in in the last minute. It's a real shame. Without a doubt, injuries are the sisters' #1 enemy.

sad for medina and pascual who had to wait so long to play them and get a walkover, they could have played their 3rd round already.
still love venus and serena though.

Re: VENUS and SERENA withdraw from doubles

It's not just the injuries IMO, it's the horrible scheduling of the Wimbledon organizers. Had they caught up with play on Sunday, maybe Venus would not have to play 4 matches in 4 days to win the title. Now she has to conserve all the energy she can. It doesn't put much strain on Serena to play doubles with her amazing serve and returns. Plus Venus carries her a lot anyway, she even said it herself

Really, don't even look at me...
