Bottom line Davenport is 2-9 versus the Sisters the past two years. She has lost the last 5 matches.

Hingis is 4-8 versus the sisters in just over 2 years. she has lost the last 5 meetings including all of their matchups this year.

I don't understand why people expect two players coming off injuries who have lost a combined 10 of their last meetings with the sisters to post a bigger challenge than healthy players who have beaten the sisters this year like Clijsters and Henin. Interestingly enough, of the healthy players Capriati is always touted as the biggest threat when she has lost the last 5 matches to Serena and has never beaten Venus.

People used to gripe that Venus and Serena didn't play enough matches. The sisters upped their schedule and are #1 and #2 in the World now people are unhappy.

Once upon a time people criticized the sisters for avoiding each other in tournaments and wished they would play the same tournaments more. Now they are playing the same tournaments and people can't stop talking about how awful it is.

Be careful what you wish for-- you just might get it.

"Everybody wants to beat a Williams sister...wouldn't you?" - Serena Williams

Because The ONLY players can challange the Williams Sisters are : DAVENPORT, HINGIS, CAPRIATI, CLIJSTERS, HENIN or SELES so far....maybe DOKIC, HANTUCHOVA or MAURESMO in the future....for me WTA Tour right now is NO COMPETITION, I'm sure (100%) The Williams Sisters will win the rest (all) of WTA Tour easily without these TOP Players!

I don't think V & S need to be 'ready' for Hingis and Davenport. I think Hingis and Davenport better be 'ready' for the sisters.

Judging by their past records i dont think Venus or Serena have to be ready. But everyone else on the wta does! Davenport and Hingis have to be ready for the sisters!

Ready? For what?

I don't see a reason for them to be ready. And BTW, I like a lot Dokic and Hantuchova, but right now they are no competition for Williams.

Katulampa has the right to wish for the return of Hingis and Davenport without being attacked on no grounds, except for wishing their return and choosing other styles than Times New Roman. Personally, I think it would be great when they come back, only because they been away for so long.

I presume that our dear topic starter has to apologize for his presumptious notion that Venus and Serena should be "ready" to compete against Hingis and Davenport

Now, Katulampa, say SORRY!

I would name only Capriati and Henin, for real competition. And maybe Seles. Kim?????? She used to be. When she's back healthy THEN she'll be, but now she's not.

Oh for gods sake. Lets just agree that all four of them better be ready for eachother.

As has been mentioned, Venus and Serena would welcome back both Davenport and Hingis with open arms.

Hurry back Lindsay and Martina!

I hope Martina and Lindsay are fully back at the us open, it's just better when everybody is there and plays well!

In the middle of the night
I go walking in my sleep
Through the desert of the truth
To the river so deep
We all end in the ocean
We all start in the streams
We're all carried along
By the river of dreams
In the middle of the night
