Question The QF confrontation between Serena and Justine is to Justine's advantage ...Agreed?

Meeting in the final would have given a big advantage to Serena, as sheimproves in the last two stages of a tournament and has a psychological advantage in a Wimbledon final.

Thus, having to confront Serena in the quarters gives Justine an advantage the more she beat Serena in the quarters at Roland Garros easily.

Your opinion ?

I think Justine would be better off if Serena was on the other side, and had to beat both Amelei and Maria to reach the final.
Ideally, you want all of your major competitors on the other side of the draw.

Agreed... Serena gets better as the tournament goes on. I think Justine would be more likely to beat her before the final rather than in it.

It's a very slight advantage, but nothing to speak of. Serena will be on a mission, and making her beat herself will be one hell of a job, 1R or final.

It doesn't matter, Serena will be up for revenge and with surface advantage!

First of all both players will have to beat their opponents in the first 4 rounds...

I agree that:

QF would be of Justine's advantage.
Grass surface would be of Serena's advantage.

Surface matters and as much bravado as Serena showed at the French, she knew she was climbing an uphill battle. Serena is very capable of stepping it up in the quarters so I don't think Justine playing Serena in the quarters will give her any advantage. Again, if they both make it there. Lets not just automatically put them both there. Injury, loss....who knows what can happen. Lets just see how the tournament unfolds people. Upsets do happen.

Doesn't matter.

If Serena has the "Eye of the Tiger" look in her eyes, watch the @#$@ out.

Serena's desire and intensity for revenge coupled with the surface will see Henin off IMHO.

I think with her serve and her athleticism, her power, her court mobility, I just think when she’s on, she’s the greatest player we’ve ever seen, ever. Now, whether her record is the greatest remains to be seen because she hasn’t retired yet. But I think she is really the greatest player. I have seen Martina and Steffi at their best. There are little chinks in those players’ armor, but it was a different era, where you didn’t need to be the perfect player.

I say yes because Serena doesn't want to have to play her best in a quaterfinal. She wants to build with every match. I think that if Serena wins this one, she will lose the first set. She'll probably go out there doing that "I'm just going to place the ball and not hit it hard" thing, and then fight back in the second and third sets.

Unfortunately, I have to say yes. Though in this particular draw, Serena could very well be forced to get better SOONER rather than later, so she could very well be quite ready for Justine.

The thing that's always bothered me lately (meaning the past few years) about Serena is this notion of playing herself into a tournament. If you go back and look when Serena was utterly dominant, she was very Graf-like in that she was consistently strong throughout a tournament, handling people she was supposed to beat with ruthless efficiency.

I wish Serena would find THAT form, so I don't have to sweat early rounds.

I do think it is an advantage for Justine to play Serena earlier than in the finals,as Serena tends to become more confident the futher she goes in a tournament.

in my mind this feels like i think it was 2004 when serena lost to capriati in the french qtrs then thrashed her in the wimbledon qtrs i think the same could happen here with this match! henins ans serena rivalry seems not very comptetive to me as justine hasnt won on a surface other than clay!
