What a year for Angelique who was not even a Top 200 player at the beginning of the year. She's now n°76! one of the best progression. She's now competing in the main circuit. Last week she reached the QF at S'Hertogenbosch $175K beating n°50 Chan and n°68 Vesnina before falling to 3rd seed/n°8 and eventual winner Chakvetadze.
Well, if a british girl deserves her MD WC at Wimbledon 07...Kathie is the one! She's now the higher british ranked player after reaching the 2nd rd at Eastbourne $200K as a qualifer! In the qualies she ousted 3rd seed/n°61 Craybas. She bounced her confidence inthe MD upsetting n°64 Bardina before losing to 3rd seed/n°12 Dementieva.
[B]FASTER MOVEMENTS IN THE TOP 10, 20, 50, 100, 150 and 200:
Nicole VAIDISOVA n°10 (+4)/
B] After a couple of week out, Nicole is back in the TOP 10. Last week, she reached the QF at Eastbourne $600K but fall to over confident Top seed/n°1 Henin. It's hard to quote Nicole level on grass...for sure she can do better than winning 4 games vs Henin considering her big serve and powerfull flat groundstrokes. It seems that she didn't recoveredher level before her spring injury.
Marion BARTOLI n°19 (+1)/
B] After a slow start at the beginning of the year...Marion is back as a solid Top 20 player...she shows very good tennis on the european clay tour...she's performing as well on grass for her 2nd consecutive SF at Eastbourne $600K distroying 3rd seed/n°13 Dementieva (dropping only 1 game!) before losing to Top seed/n°1 and eventual winner Henin.
Roberta VINCI n°49 (+4)/
B] Roberta is back in the Top 50 after making to the 2nd rd at S'Hertogenbosch $175K falling to 8th seed/n°25 solid Alona Bondarenko.
Aiko NAKAMURA n°68 (+17)/
B] That fast 2 handed both sides player has been slumping in the WR after the Australian Open...a lot of 1rst rd loss. This week, she reached the 2nd rd at high Tier II Eastbourne $600K as a qualifer! She upsetted 7th seed/n°78 Dushevina in the last rd of the qualies and controled n°60 Rezai powerfull game in the 1rst rd before losing to 6th seed/n°16 Peer.
Kira NAGY n°145 (+13)/
B]Kira is back to the TOP 150 after winning Campobasso $25K challenger. As Top seed, she never was in danger during that week overpowering 7th seed/n°291 Wheeler in final.
Melanie SOUTH n°169 (+35)/
B] From one spot she beat O'Brien as the best progression in the Top 200. Melanie was on the the 3 british girl to reach the 2nd rd at Eastbourne $600K ousting WC n°74 Molik in a dramatic match (7/6 in the final set). In her next match, she couldn't control offensive and powerfull double sided game from 8th seed/n°20 and eventual SF Bartoli.
