Anna will beat her in straight sets.

If Martina in good form can't beat Sugiyama on grass, I doubt bad-form Martina can beat Chak on grass

It's not a great draw for a player returning after a layoff really. Bammer, Chakvetadze, Jankovic, Peer, & Bartoli all have some grass court matches under their belt...I think it'll be difficult for Martina to get through this draw. But she has the ability, obviously, if she can re-find her game quickly.

How great is it that Martina gets the easy draw when she's not in form...

I ♥ Hingis

Hingis was NOT in form last Wimbledon - anyone who says that either didn't see her play or is a complete moron. I think the layoff will be good for her, but I expect a really tough match against Chak in the 4th round, where Martina would have to play really well to win.

Folks, don't underestimate Bammer. She's a careful player but has hidden weapons. I'd say an in-form Martina would beat her, but after the layoff it'll be a tough match for her.

Yeah. Although their head to head is heavily in favour of Hingis, Bammer is still a formidable opponent.

This is the softest quarter. Great opportunity for a lot of players to make a Wimbledon semi.

The most wasted of all days is one without laughter....
Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there
Enjoy This Moment!!

Re: How Great Is This Draw For The #9 Seed?

Bammer on GRASS is another story from Bammer on clay. She's not that good on it, and if Hingis has any semblance of good form she'll win.

Re: How Great Is This Draw For The #9 Seed?

Martina will lose to one of these three: Nakamura, Bammer, or Chakvetadze

Bammer's very good on grass...I've watched her play a couple of matches. I'm not trying to say she's great on it or she'd beat Martina, just saying she's not a player to sleep on on any surface.

Yep, and let's not forgot Martina beat Bammer in str8 sets earlier this year, 6-0, 6-2. Of course Sybille can have her day, and she is in great form this year, but her daughter might be peeved if her mom beats her favorite player, LOL!
Should Anna and Martina meet in the 4th rd, I would still favor Hingis. Though Anna is in good form and has quite a good season already, her Wimbledon record is 2-2, Martina's is 21-7, even though it is her worst slam. I would be more scared should Hingis have to play Misa! (Though both matches could be )

Anyway, every match for Martina will be tough as she is completely cold. But as others have stated unlike last year, Martina comes into Wimbledon fresh. Last year she was already spent by the Grass-court season.

Come on Martina!!!!

Venus Ana Caro Sloane
Timea Aga Masha Bencic Kristyna Keys Dani
Sania Vika Nicole Petko Simona Broady Robi CiCi Mladenovic Garcia JJ Errani Duval

Martina Hingis Forever!!!

Weakest quater by far. Jankovic will make the semi's probably defeating Chaky in the quaters, unless Chaky can have a breakthrough in the big slams matches

Grassonkova.

Please tell me you are not serious?!?

Marti played absolute crap against Sugiyama last year. Fluff forehands that pretty much did nothing and played most of the match scared and with very little penetration on the groundstrokes.

If she has been training and she has confidence, she should get through to play Jelena and then anything can happen.
