Sore Losers: Henin & Mauresmo
A very surprising reaction from two players that I repected.
I think they should rethink their training and attitudes real quick.
all-Williams final WIMBLEDON, England (AP) -- Justine Henin and Amelie Mauresmo aren't so sure another all-Williams Grand Slam final is a good thing for women's tennis.
Of course, they are the players who lost to the sisters in the Wimbledon semifinals Thursday.
"That's good for them," the sixth-seeded Henin said. "But I think that maybe the crowd likes also to see the other players in different Grand Slam finals."
She was beaten by two-time defending champion Venus 6-3, 6-2 in a rematch of the 2001 final. Serena followed by defeating No. 9 Mauresmo 6-2, 6-1.
It will be the third Williams vs. Williams Grand Slam championship match in the last 10 months. Venus won at the U.S. Open, while Serena won at the French Open.
"It's a little bit sad for women's tennis, but maybe it's not the point of view for everybody," Mauresmo said. "People are going to get bored about it. It was already the final at the French Open. I can't count how many people since yesterday told me, 'We don't want Williams final."
"You know, some people think like this. Some people think it's good. Everyone has a different opinion."
Not surprisingly, Venus has a different take on the subject.
"It's good for tennis," she said. "It's good for Serena and I more than anything."
I am also worrying what else this jealousy over the Williams may span in the weak minded people that are out in the public.
Well, anyway f*ck them.
