Why is USA-Belgium not being played on clay?

Did they have to designate a surface prior to team rosters being announced? Switching from clay to hard to clay can't be great for V&S's Roland Garros prep...

I personally don't think that Serena is that comfortable on the clay atm. I mean, she hasn't won a match on clay since 2005. Hell, she has only played 1 match in the last two seasons on the dirt, and she retired in it. Maybe okay for Venus, but not for Serena right now.

That's true. Andy Murray said that was the reason why he injured his back switching fom the different surfaces.
