Can Hingis win another Slam?

Her best chance will be at Roland Garros.

Consider: Sharapova may be out (clay is not her best anyways); Clijsters will not be there (Kim has beaten her in 3 of the majors since her comeback); it would be her best chance to take out a Williams Sister (still huge edge to either Venus or Serena); Mauresmo will be coming back from surgery (rusty perhaps?); Kuznetsova & Petrova are inconsistent.

This will be real chance. She'll have to play one heck of match against Venus, Serena, Henin to really maybe win.

Re: Can Hingis win another Slam?

I still think Hingis has amazing tennis in her, but she needs to play really great if she wants to beat Mauresmo, Kuznetsova, Henin, Venus or Serena, even on the clay. But, she can definitely do it.

Let them eat cake.

Re: Can Hingis win another Slam?

Can she? - Yes

Will she? - No

The match against Clijsters in Oz was a wasted opportunity IMO. Not saying she would have won the tournament, but I think she could have given Sharapova and possibly Serena a good test

This is my cool signature

She'll have to stop losing to the likes of razzano and radwanska (sp?) first. She's not even getting there to meet the big names lately.

No. Not if she has to play anybody with 2 or more GS wins.

Re: Can Hingis win another Slam?

Her combined head-to-head against the Williams sisters is dead even, so if she plays like she should be playing, she can compete with the best in the game. And, of course, her bast chance is on clay. She just NEEDS to stop being so passive. It's not like she's unaware of what she's doing wrong; she's just too afraid to implement the strategy she needs to win.

What about Justine? I doubt she'll be beating the Queen of Clay on any surface, much less CLAY.

Re: Can Hingis win another Slam?

Umm, she needs to get passed the 40+ ranked crowd at RG and her next few events before even thinking about beating Top 10 players.

Re: Can Hingis win another Slam?

Hingis is still vulnerable to some lower ranked players who run fast and who hit the ball hard. And let's not forget about Jankovic, Vaidiosva and Peer. If Justine and Serena decide to leave the door open this year (which they probably won't) Hingis will not be the first in line to take the opportunity. You have to put Venus up there and the three I just mentioned. And maybe even a few others before you even mention Hingis. That's why I can't see her winning another major.

Hingis should have came back in 2004 when Myskina, Sharapova and Kuznetsova took the biggest opportunity of their careers. Justine had gone away after her AO win, Serena was getting injured every month, Venus was a hot mess, Capriati wasn't doing too well and a few others were absent in action. Not to take away from Myskina, Maria and Kuzy's wins but that was the perfect year for them to go for it. Hingis would have probably done well that year. But now Serena has settled in, Justine isn't going anywhere, Venus is on her way back, Peer, Jankovic, and Vaidisova are maturing and improving by the month, and it looks like the tour is about to get a lot better overall. Sorry, but Hingis had her chance. The same circumstances that drove her away are slowly coming back to kick her in the behind.

The Williams Sisters

It's great to be a fan of the two most talented women in tennis.

Only IDIOTS count out the Williams sisters!!!
Serena: 13 Slams, ranked: #1
Venus: 7 Slams, ranked: #2

Actually I don't see her winning any majors any more.

But she still has chances in Tier I

Re-read. I mentioned Henin in my post.
