Fed Cup Security Threat!!!

Christchurch police are confident an international tennis tournament there will be safe after a security threat was made to the International Tennis Federation (ITF).

The threat to the Fed Cup Asia/Oceania Zone tournament in Christchurch, starting on April 18 at Wilding Park, was made to the ITF in London.

It was sent by unidentified sources.

Police are working to track the origin.

"We are confident that the protection and systems are in place to ensure there is a safe tournament," Detective Sergeant Earle Borrell said.

All competing nations had been advised of the threat, tournament director David Blackwell said.

Event organisers and police were putting in place a security plan to ensure the event ran safely, Mr Blackwell said.

Nations competing are India, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong China, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Korea, New Zealand, Syria, Jordan and Singapore.

Thank you for everything Mercedes, now please be nice to Socrates for me, perhaps fetch him a bird or two. We love you, always.

Re: Fed Cup Security Threat!!!

Your aware that Christchurch is one of the most dangerous places to live in the world (based on crime per capita - although I must say its only 5 areas of Christchurch which arent really that safe to live in, 1 is near Wilding Park)

One of the news articles said the threat relates to the Syrian team. Hope all goes safely.

Forgot that Syria was coming - that does increase the danger alittle

If there is a terrorism attack there then it maybe RIP Sooveryoufraza (following the death of Kittyking but not being reincarnated with another body for once)
