Exclamation Marion BARTOLI- Slump or no Slump? ('04/'07 Pic inside)

Marion's record this year so far: 6-9

Ranking:23

She was almost double-bageled by Danilidou in her last match.

What do you think?

Also, I was wondering if she has fitness issues?

I think she can only beat players in the Tier IV and III tournaments, and doesn't have the talent to beat the top players.

Wow, the difference in the two pics are shocking. I think she's in a small slump and hopefully she can get it together.

I saw her 4th rd match against Nicole Vaidisova at IW which she lost in 3 sets. When you look at her she looks chunky, with your 2 photos for comparison it looks even more so.

I saw her in Auckland in 2004 and 2007. 2004, I was impressed with her game and her movement around the court. This year, not so much. Her movement looked laboured and her play wasn't flowing very well at all. She lost in the 2nd round to Loit.

can't exactly be a slump when she wasn't exactly producing stellar tennis....she won little little tournies....never any big tournie breakthroughs so if she had that big breakthrough then I could say she is slumping

She won Auckland, (not a 'little little' tournament ), The Japan Open (Tokyo) and Quebec City last year and was ranked #17 in the world.

Re: Marion BARTOLI- Slump or no Slump? ('04/'07 Pic inside)

I went to indian wells myself, and saw both the Safina and Vaidisova matches. She actually looked good and should have beat Nicole in 2. However that match was stopped between 2nd and 3rd set for the heat rule and she looked like she was cramping up on the side.

My concern is that as much as i like to see tennis every week, her current ranking lists 32 tourneys in the last year. Snarkers will note that she "rests" the 2nd week of a slam as her best slam result last year was a 3rd rd at the open. I can understand Mattek entering that many because of qualies, but shouldnt Marion be able to set up a better sked?

Oh wow, when's she expecting??? Twins?? You know, I really like Marion. And she was a totally sweet girl when I met her back in Tokyo last year. However the camera doesn't lie. Last year we watched as she dined on cakes and crepes and it must all go somewhere
