Re: Can serena do it?
Right now, I think Serena has to be the favorite in any tournament she's in, on both fast and slower surfaces. She is proving that even at less than her best, she can beat anyone - she has beat both number 1 players in the same tournament, even though she is still not back to her pre-injury shape. The victory over Henin was close, so I'll be looking to see if Henin can reverse that result the next time they meet, or if Serena will keep improving and pull away from Henin. And with Sharapova, until she gets her serve and her confidence back, it's hard to tell how she will match up with Serena, but I suspect that Serena would still beat her, even if by a less decisive score.
On a separate note, Marshmallow - may I say how much I enjoy your posts in the various threads on this GM. It's like an oasis in the desert of all this sometimes crazy and mean-spirited rambling that goes on here. Your sanity and measured opinions are appreciated.
