The Handshake replaces The Hand

Did you check out the handshake between Justine and Serena? Long AND warm. I'd say any bad blood betweenthese two really is dead.

And they were chatting to each other during the ceremony

Respect to JH...she is quite a player. Not many people can say they've 6-0 Serena Williams.

Yeah after Mary Joe interviewed Serena you could see Serena and Justine conversing and giggling about something - it was nice to see.

My hats off to Serena for her fight and determination. Justine was not to be denied that first set but Serena fought so hard and starting making my gal hit the extra shot and not the other way around. You are right about the convivial nature at the ceremony. If these two aren't the best women's tennis has to offer then who the heck is?

Re: The Handshake replaces The Hand

Well, it was a respectful handshake, no doubting that. After almost four years, it’s to be expected that the feelings have cooled. However, how much can you really read into a handshake performed after a gruelling match, in front of a huge crowd and camera’s.

Serena’s use of the phrase ‘honest match’, and the possibility that serena fought harder than ever before, was due to her not wanting to lose to Justine because of the mild unsavoury feeling.

Yes, I do just like to argue, BUT, I personally don’t think the feelings are DEAD, but they have definetly sweetened.

That said, it was a great final touch to a great match. Well done to both ladies.
