FO SF vs serena. Serena was 4-2 3rd set up and serving, Justine put her hand up, serena hit it into the net and was only allowed a 2nd serve when she should of had the 1st serve again

Not only that, JH refused to speak up, that she put up her hand. When Serena protested, the RG-Fans started booing as usual.

Henin camp later said, they would have spoken up, had it been another player What a crock of shit

They are back!

So refreshing to see that so many have let bygones be bygones

I am a fan of neither player, but am relishing the match up and am just gutted that I have to go to a conference this weekend and will not be able to see it live. Unless I can get away with skiving off to my hotel room for an hour or two .................

Whatever, may the best hand win!

(and I feel a shedload of "hand" jokes coming on lol)

For instance, some might consider it a refreshing change if, this time, Justine were to beat Serena "hands down"!

Re: And Now The Stage Is Set. Its Serena V The Hand

It always annoyed me that Serena was seen as the victim regarding to 'the hand' . If Serena saw Justine put her hand up why did she still serve?
Would she have claimed the point if she served an ace? As the server she controls when the point starts, not the opposition. The server doesn't have to wait for the opponent, it's just good manners. Had the umpire asked her to wait that would be a different story.

Don't think Serena had anything to complain about. They both didn't act sporting at that point (Serena for trying to serve when her opponent wasn't ready, Justine for saying she didn't raise her hand), but don't think either of them broke any rules either.

That was so long ago anyway.
If both players play well it should be a very close match. Think it'll revolve around how well Justine serves. She still serves well for her height but it's not the weapon that it was a few years back.

Re: And Now The Stage Is Set. Its Serena V The Hand

Serena was not the victim. It was karmic retribution for saying that her losses to Justine in the past were because an "impostor" was playing in her place. She also bumped into Justine with her tennis bag in the hallway and belittled her. She turned the crowd in Paris against by trying to make her own line calls. All of these things happened and yet she expected justine to do her the favor of having another first serve. If your opponent is not ready and holds up their hand then the server MUST wait. That is the rule. Don't try to sneak an ace in and then when you miss cry foul and play the victim. Serena really should learn from her sister Venus who is 1000x classier.

Still sprouting the same nonsense Treundfreund as I can see.
For the millionth time, Serena was already in service motion, when "the hand" held up her hand.
The main issue is that JH held up her hand and pretended or lied that she didnt.
As for kicking JH and belittling her, that is pure bullshit. Were you there? Do you know what happened and most of all, what does it have to do with lying about something the whole world saw, except the blind umpire.
Karmic retribution? My foot

I think u are being biased. (i am like that as well at times, but this is really too far off) we all saw what happened at that match, the fact that justine did not speak up about it just shows her state of mind.

the french crowd at the FO were really really poor
