Sybille Bammer = Emmanuelle Gagliardi?

Both of them were middle tier players with some decent wins and results, then rocketed out of nowhere to the semifinals of Indian Wells before losing in three sets.

Emmanuelle pretty much faded back into middle tier status promptly afterwards, followed by journeywoman status.

With Sybille's early exit today (albeit to arguably one of the toughest unseeded players in Emilie Loit), the question begs to be asked: Will Sybille bounce back or is she a one-trick pony?

I tend to think Bammer wants it more than Manu ever did due to her very very comfortable family background. Sybille is a workhouse and she simply would have been tired. Also if Emilie playing her best she's better than Sybille anyway in my opinion.

It's too early to say.

Emilie is a tough player, so it's not that big of an upset. I think Bammer is going to have a pretty good year

This is my cool signature

emmanule did after that result nothing special but was not losing many times to players who she should beat.. now a days she starts to have problems with players far below her and she is not winning against players like rodionova and foretz for example and that sucks real hard!!!

Re: Sybille Bammer = Emmanuelle Gagliardi?

Emilie is a very talented player, no question, but she has a terrible career record in the US. Her game is not made for US hardcourts so I do regard this as a rather bad loss for Bammer.

Having added so many ranking points to her total in the last month, Bammer should easily sustain her top 30 ranking for the next 11 months without having to do anything spectacular. But given her age, and the fact she has the distraction of a child, I doubt it is going to get any better than this for her and I would be somewhat surprised (although not shocked) if she was still in the top 50 one year from now. But I wouldn't go as far as to call her a one trick pony. She will have other good results in her career albeit probably not quite on par with the last month.

Loit's game is very tricky and Bammer is tired probably so cant say from one match and in my opinion Sybille will have a very solid year this year

Re: Sybille Bammer = Emmanuelle Gagliardi?

I'd imagina Bammer can stay in the top 50 for a couple of years, but you really shouldn't read too much into her IW SF. She beat Golovin to get there, easily the weakest quarterfinalist (besides Bammer, I suppose) and isn't a top 20 prospect. The top 20 is crowded as it is, so I don't think it's likely we'll see 3rd Tier players reaching that ranking anytime soon.
