Do you prefer tennis to be about power or finesse?

I think tennis should be about finesse. To me the sport is an art. What do you all think??

Art=Power (my bad)

I assume the second option was meant to be "power"? I like both definitely.

Would the Evert-Navratilova rivalry have been as exciting (or, for that matter, as frequent) if both had the same playing style? N-O! Variety, ladies and gentlemen, is indeed the spice of life.

Tennis is actually called the Sport of Kings, and this is because the sport is supposed to value thinking more than power. There is a beautiful article about the sport done way before the power era. I will find the link here when I have the time.

For me there is nothing better than Power tennis like Masha, Mary, Lindsay, Venus and Serena at their best. Watching Venus v Masha at Wimbledon 05 was awesome.

I don't like art at all, so I voted finesse . Your choices cracked me up at work so everyone came to look at what I was reading !

i'm trying to decide which was the best part of this match: the unforced errors, predictable rallies, lack of any variety, or the blowout second set

anyway there is no question that finesse tennis is more dynamic and captivating than power tennis. for those with an untrained tennis eye, however, i can understand the allure of fast shots

Which would you rather watch: a Williams-Sharapova slugfest, or an Austin-Jaeger moonball fight from the early 1980s?

Re: Do you prefer tennis to be about power or finesse?

I'd watch the controlled and constructed and dynamic shots of Martina against a powerful yet controlled and constructed dynamic shot of Monica Seles.

Did you watch that match the rallies were breath taking. And dont give me the untrained tennis eye crap. people have there own opinion you cant say finesse is more excting or captivating, to you it may be but you cant speak for everyone. Its all a matter of opinion and preference.
