Rod Laver Arena is currently a pool...

The arena has been transformed for the swimming champs and there is a custom built 50m swimming pool weighing 794 tonnes (without water) sitting on the court...amazing how they built it.

its called the susie o'neill pool, im glad they named it after her, shes a legend. it must suck for victoria though having a pool named after a queenslander inside an arena named after a queenslander.

I thought Australia was in a very severe drought. I hope they use Yarra River water.

yes the drought is so severe that we can't spare enough water to fill a swimming pool drought is breaking as well The competitors would die instantly if they used the water from the Yarra.
