Three Domestic Networks to Televise 97 Total Hours of Tennis Coverage
Broadcasters Include CBS, ESPN2 and the Tennis Channel
MIAMI – Sony Ericsson Open tennis fans in the U.S. will be able to watch over 97 hours of domestic coverage, the most in tournament history, on CBS, ESPN2 and the Tennis Channel, Tournament Director Adam Barrett announced Monday.
Once again, CBS will broadcast live the Sony Ericsson Open men’s and women’s finals from the Tennis Center at Crandon Park in Miami. The women’s final is scheduled for Saturday, March 31, at 12:00 p.m. eastern, and the men are scheduled to play in the championship on Sunday, April 1, at 12:00 p.m.
ESPN2’s 28 hours of late-round coverage will begin Tuesday, March 27, at 1:00 p.m. with a four-hour live broadcast of the men’s fourth-round and women’s quarterfinal matches. The coverage for the channel will conclude Friday, March 30 with the live airing of both men’s semifinal matches, beginning at 3:00 p.m.
Increasing its early round coverage from last year, the Tennis Channel will broadcast a total of 64 hours during the first week of the tournament, beginning with a 12 hour live broadcast on Saturday, March 24 at 11 a.m.
Worldwide, over 1200 hours of coverage is to be broadcast to over 200 countries.
