What Else Can We Look Forward to in Hingis' Comeback?

Three titles, including two Tier Is (and two additional Tier I finals) is incredible! But can she get beyond the quarterfinals of a slam, or beyond that win one? What do you think?

Re: What Else Can We Look Forward to in Hingis' Comeback?

she has to take it step by step.

she has to reach a slam SF this year first, then we'll talk realistically. She needs help if she's gonna be stubborn and play with that kind of serve she has.

but mind you, she is always *there* across the net. I've never seen a player win a match against Hingis that got a way with hitting 62 errors such as Clijsters two weeks ago.

She needs to be mean as a snake when she's up 2-0 against someone like Clijsters at a quarters of a major again. Then we'll talk about a "Major win".

Re: What Else Can We Look Forward to in Hingis' Comeback?

She definitely makes things more interesting. If Serena hadn't won the AO, this might be the biggest story in the women's game this year so far.

I voted for tier ones but no slams. At the same time, she is my Dark Horse to win the French. Not that I want her to. I don't. While I TRULY admire her skills, I still carry too many scars with me from the old Hingy Williams' sisters wars. But I wouldn't be surprised if she wins the French this year. But I think this year is her ONLY real shot at it.

Re: What Else Can We Look Forward to in Hingis' Comeback?

She has a good shot at RG and AO as long as she plays, hopefully another 4 or 5 years!

Potential matchups w/JuJu and Serena are

I don't know if Martina would win but I will love to see her try and work it out.

Venus Ana Caro Sloane
Timea Aga Masha Bencic Kristyna Keys Dani
Sania Vika Nicole Petko Simona Broady Robi CiCi Mladenovic Garcia JJ Errani Duval

I'd have to agree, except a win over Serena I wouldn't find "Shocking"!

She'l have better results on clay. A semifinal spot at Roland would come to no surprise. She'l remain in the top 8 for a while and should have decent draws and very few can beat her on good form on clay (Kuznetsova (though too incosistent, Henin(for obvious reasons) Mauresmo, Clijsters (still moves great on clay and both Venus and Serena (Venus might get too erratic on clay at times however)). I hope she wins a couple of more titles this year. She surely can especially when there's no Henin, Sharpie, Clijsters or Williams across the net at a final stage.

She won Rome last year. Maybe this is her year at RG.

I would not go that far. Really Dementieva or Ivanovic are not the players that have been playing grand slams finals recently.

Hingis had a solid week, but honestly i think this kind of tennis she´s been playing so far won´t make her win a grand slam again. She is just way too defensive and once she faces a hard hitting oponnent and playing great tennis, she´ll get spanked. Dementieva did not have her Tokio 2006 form neither Ivanovic had her Montreal 2006 form today, she can get away on ocassions like these, but this tennis will do in the latter stages of grand slams, unless a Myskina Rg 2004 happen, where her last 3 oponnents could not get the ball in play, and i doubt that will happen any time soon.
