How could we qualify Serena!! No one would have put money on her for the title at the AO. A lot of people said that she wasn't prepared, that she was overweight! But she proved to everybody the great champion she was, ousting 6 seeded girls on her 7 matches: 27th seed/n°32 Santangelo, 5th seed/n°6 Petrova, 11th seed/n°11 Jankovic, 16th seed/n°17 Peer, 10th seed/n°12 Vaidisova and favourite Top seed/n°2 Sharapova. Good news for the Top 30 playres, she'll be seeded in Roland Garros!
Lucie SAFAROVA n°31 (°39):
Until the AO, Lucie had desastrous result in grand slam (2nd rd at her best) despite a career ranking high at n°26. She corrected that error reaching the QF at the AO upsetting 14th seed/n°20 schiavone and 2006 winner 2nd seed/n°3 Mauresmo en route before losing 10th seed/n°12 Vaidisova.
