For the most part because they are constantly
asked about her. And we've seen where players
on the WTA as well as the ATP get miffed when
asked about her at various times.
IMO, for the most part most athletes don't care to talk
about her or most any other athletes on the tour, period.
Also, the media picks up and prints just about
anything and everything, so ofcourse it would appear
that many are talking about her, when in actuallity, few are.
I agree, the players want to be asked about their own game instead of continuous questions about someone else. If they finally give a short answer (no matter how diplomatic), it gives the media something to twist, and they can move on to questions about their own match.
Sharapova is the "it girl" of tennis right now and whether you like it or not, the media frenzy will continue until the next "it girl" comes along.
