Best Lindsay matches in 2002?

I collect great Lindsay matches with high quality tennis from her from all over the years, but the year that is still missing in my collection is 2002 after her comeback from the knee surgery. So what do you think are her best performances in that year?

What about Zurich 2002 SF against Henin (7-6 7-6). Seemed to be good from what the result looks. Or the final against Schnyder (although Lindsay lost)?

Which matches you consider as the best in 2002?

Simona Halep, Petra Kvitova, Sabine Lisicki, Flavia Pennetta

STEFFI GRAF, KIM CLIJSTERS, LINDSAY DAVENPORT & AMÉLIE MAURESMO

another couple of matches that lindsay played quite well in but lost were the moscow final (lost to maleeva) and the YEC 1st round (lost to seles). lindsay played a pretty good match beating bovina in the quarter-finals of the US Open

I don't know about high quality, but the 2002 Zurich SF against Henin was marred with controversy because Henin accussed Davenport of gamesmanship.

FUCK YOU, SEWTA.

Losing to maggie and Patty

Lindsay really had a hard time in 02

On top of that Venus gave Lindsay a bit of a thumping in new haven as well

I'dn't say that those lost finals were particulary high quality. But you could try some of those:
Zurich quarterfinal win against Clijsters, but the semi was quite a good quality as well.
New Haven SF Vs Nastya - a good performance by Lindsay.
USO SF vs Ree - the second set was great!
Nothing spectacular though. Lindsay was half the player she had been before the knee injury really.

It was a transitional year.
She had to learn how to win again like she will have to do in 2007.

I don't think it's enough time. It took her until really 2004 to get back in the swing of things.
We will see. I really wish she would have played Quebec City.
A win there would have speed up the process somewhat.

Re: Best Lindsay matches in 2002?

Well Lindsay gave Serena her toughest match at the US Open that year. She led 5-2 in the second set and had three set points at 5-3, but Serena was too tough mentally and won it 6-3, 7-5. It was still a good match though.

Yeah, I would have liked to have seen her play there too, even if it was a tier III, she still would have ended the year on a positive note with a win there...

'07 will be her last season, I hope she takes the 'all guns blazing' approach

Yep, that was a good match, Serena played so well on those sps, two great serves and a FH winner That was Serena at her absolute peak, so Linds did quite well I feel

Re: Best Lindsay matches in 2002?

Yes i remember these 2 big finals she lost in Zurich and Moscow. It was my first year getting in touch with Lindsay and a fan of Tennis. Thats why her matches of that year are so special for me. I remember in Zurich she seemed quite positiv despite having lost this final, I remember a really nice Interview with a friendly and smiling Lindsay on court (shown at Eurosport) right after the end of the match. That was the moment she impressed me a lot, having lost but being such a great person and giving full credit to her opponent and making the best out of her loss.

What about Moscow? How was her reaction at the handshake at the net and after the match? Was she also that postiv like in Zurich? Can't remember it excactly.

Agreed on Quebec.
But I guess she just really wanted the season to be over and re evaluate what she wanted out of the sport.

I give up on trying to guess when Lindsay will retire. She will one day, but I'm done guessing what day it will be.

And I also hope she comes out swinging.
