Is Venus Williams best surface HARD or GRASS?

Is Venus Williams best surface HARD or GRASS?

We all know she's a decent clay-courter but I think we can safely say Grass and Hard are her two best surfaces.

Which is better for her?

Don't be too quick to say grass just because her 3 Wimbledon titles. She's tremendous on an American Hard Court (2 US Opens plus many titles on a hard court)! Which is she better on?

Мари́я Ю́рьевна Шара́пова , Јелена Јанковић, Venus Williams.

Re: Is Venus Williams best surface HARD or GRASS?

A healthy and fully confident Venus Williams is next to impossible to beat on grass. Ive only seen two matches where a player actually BEAT her on grass (not her making a lot of errors to lose the match and or her being injured), that was 1999 Wimbledon QF/2002 Wimbledon Final.

Grass, if she played more tournaments on grass....plus if there were tournaments on grass period she'd have a gang more titles.

Really, don't even look at me...

I totally agree. Not to take anything away from her opponents over the years. But the truth is Venus is one of the greatest on the grass.

Re: Is Venus Williams best surface HARD or GRASS?

Grass by a mile. At her best (2000-2002) she was tough on fast hard courts, but on any other surface besides grass it's possible to spit back balls until she makes errors off her forehand.

On the other hand she should be able to contend at Wimbledon until she's ready to retire

Re: Is Venus Williams best surface HARD or GRASS?

Why do we even have a poll.

Venus is the grass court queen. Whoever voted hard is retarded.

Women's tennis sucks.

Re: Is Venus Williams best surface HARD or GRASS?

Grass...her body and game are made for a grass court!

I only HOPE we will see her Wimbledon '05 form in the coming year.

I'd like to imagine that in order to beat me a person would have to play almost perfect tennis. - Venus Williams

Grass.

Her game and athleticism are perfect for grass and that's why she has three Wimbledon titles.

Re: Is Venus Williams best surface HARD or GRASS?

at this point, Venus Williams's best surface is the couch, where she can sit back and watch the re-runs of when she used to be a great player.

she was down matchpoint.

but anyway-- she plays her best tennis IMO on hardcourts. BUT more players can beat her on a hardcourt. there are few good grasscourt players out there. for instance, dementieva can trouble venus on any day on a hardcourt but you'd have be insane to give her a chance on grass. venus can seems to be better on grass because she has that extra title at wimbledon, but venus could win for weeks on end on a hardcourt which is much more impressive to me.

Re: Is Venus Williams best surface HARD or GRASS?

Hmmm...this is actually hard. Grass helps her forehand a bit I think because of the low bounce but a fast hardcourt compliments her well also. I am going to say that she is has equal playing ability on grass and hard but I thinks he is a harder tto beat on grass (I know this dosen't make sense) .
