Most matches played is more important, as it means consistently going deep into the draws.
which is exactly what these 3 players have done, on average, more consistently than anyone else on the tour in the last decade. Averaging 25 WTA/GS events per year (qualifying, ITF challengers, and Fedcup NOT included!) for 10 years is phenomenal.
And, to your point, who has played more WTA matches than these 3 in the past 10 years? I doubt anyone has - *maybe* Davenport, but i don't think so.
Elena played her first match 1989 in Moscow, her first full year as a professional tennis player was 1992
Lena has played matches against Tauziat, Testud, Maleevas, Graf, Novtona, Sanchez-Vicario, Martinez, Sabatini, Huber

Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there Enjoy This Moment!!
HEALTH and HAPPINESS to EVERYONE
In next years, We will see the following names possibly very soon:
Jelena Jankovic, Marion Batoli, Anna-Lena Gronefeld
not "very soon". Ten years is a long time in tennis. Many players are able to play a heavy schedule for 3-4 years. But to do it for a decade is much more rare. I doubt Bartoli and ALG can keep that pace up.
