Most Annoying Haters 2006
Who are the most annoying Group of Haters on the WTA board in 2006?
Maria Haters: A tenacious group who seem to devote their whole lives to their obsession. Forever starting new threads about how ugly she is, what a cheater she is, how all her wins are flukes, how all her relatives are evil, and then posting in every other thread with even the slightest sort of connection with the object of their hate/desire. Some spend hours thinking of new ways to post anti-Maria material. An incredibly dedicated group.
Justine Haters: Known for the intensity of their feelings, some will devote days to one thread, posting repetitively, and conctantly bringing up tiny incidents lost in the mists of time. Unable to attack Justine on her tennis skills, haters tend to attack her sportsmanship- single-mindedness.
Serena Haters: Seen less often on the boards now that Serena is no longer at the very top. At their worst, Serena haters are personnally vicious, accusing their nexus of ugliness, brutality and ruining the game of tennis with raw power play. Criticisms of her sportsmanship, many injuries, and commitment to the sport are common.
Amelie Haters: Not as dedicated as those of the three above, but can be vicious when roused. Amelie haters tend to emerge when the French star approaches Number One ranking. Her success is seen by haters as unearned. The chief criticism is of Amelie's temperament, allusions to her gayness, and also of her perceived tendency to fall apart under pressure. "Unworthy" is a word often used.
Venus Haters: A dying breed. Few have much to say against Venus these days, although allusions to her haughtiness were once very prominent.
Nicole Haters: A new breed. Rarely has one so lowly ranked acquired haters so quickly. Nicole haters are not shy about calling their girl every name under the sun. A snake is shown biting Nicole, and posters queue up to worry about the health of the snake. A tendency to a bad attitude on court is cited as an excuse for this.
Hingis Haters: An old and dedicated fraternity. Arrogant-sounding remarks, and elements of her personal lifestyle are seen as the key targets to focus on, as was her inabi9lity to cope with power tennis. Not as big a group of haters as once existed, but more may come out of retirement if her come-back progresses.
