Considering the average salary in Cairo is between $4,000-$5,000 a year, Galina can do pretty well for herself. She's already made $3,700 this year and she's scheduled to play the 3 10K's in Cairo (one of them going on this week, which she has already made the quarterfinals of.) Winning a 10K nets you $1,600. She makes more than the average yearly salary by working a few weeks per year, and then has her normal job.
That being said, I wish she would at least play the 25K's in Nigeria or the WTA tournament in Morocco. Her results show that she is still a top 300 player without any kind of training whatsoever. She might be able to crack the top 100 if she decided to come back. She's only 22 so it's not too late.
