Old news, come out from under that rock. Anyway Serena was the first player at the US open that year to bring attention to donating to hurricane Katrina, but all haters harped is her donating 100 dollars per ace. I guess they had forgotten that Serena had been the ace queen at the US open for four years, so she planned on hitting a lot of aces when she made the offer. It was easy for everybody else to come along after her with bigger offers, so in a way it was better that she didn't just write a huge check and be done with it. Because of her it got tons of attention and gave lots of players motivation to donate more than her so they can say they are better. But fear not, the sisters are still playing an exhibition for hurricane Katrina at the end of the month, while most others have moved on and aren't even concerned with the cause anymore.

Yeah, they donated money from their Williams sisters tour last year and are doing the same this year. Also, Venus and Zina Garrison came up "Tied for the cause", where they auctioned off yellow show laces for Hurricane Katrina.
