To counter that other disgusting thread

Hi,

Please don't close this one.
I can't believe I goodrepped some Justine fans in the past. I feel ashamed by it now.

Let me just use this thread to say how disgusted I am by some of the comments made in that thread (beautifully) started by Swami Marjory. It started off beautifully, but the symphony of dirt that followed afterwards was simply sickening. It would make even a devil like Justine ashamed to have them as her fans.

Yes, this deserves a NEW thread. For all decent polite fans of Justine to express their real sympathy because they're too ashamed to do so in that other thread.

congrats Justine and amelie on a great year.

Ok, now you scare me. I haven't checked out the "other thread". Don't read that stuff usually.

Re: To counter that other disgusting thread

Great thread, pigam. Congrats to Justine and Amelie for showing the tennis world what you are capable of.

I understand that some Justine fans are perhaps a little over-excited about yesterday's win, but there's no need to rub it into everyone's faces and engage in mudslinging. Like every other Justine fan, I'm elated that she got one back on Amelie.

But I know the next time they play will be a new chapter in their fledging and hopefully long-lasting rivalry, and there's no guarantee that Justine will always be the winner. They are both far too talented to let the other figure out a formulaic solution for victory. So unless we want to foster an environment of unfriendliness, with arrogant demeaning threads after every victory (and that goes for all fan bases) ... it's always good to practise a little humility.

Let's hope that they will push each other to greater heights.

Why is it no one ever sent me yet/One perfect limousine, do you suppose?
Ah no, it's always just my luck to get/One perfect rose.

Re: To counter that other disgusting thread

Ok, now I blame you, pigam, for making me read that thread.
Off course one page was enough and I got out of it as soon as possible.

I'm sure many good posters here know that not all Ju fans alike, and most of Amelie fans are pretty classy themselves, so in the end I still believe we can have a healthy respect for each other and our faves.

Both Amelie and Justine played some great tennis this year, and their h2hs now are 6-6 which more then proves that any of them can be the winner on any day.

I could never understand the desire to put others down, especially when your fave is on a winning side. Isn't just being happy for your fave enough?
But in the end everyone has it's own way to express themselves on this board, I realized it and moved on.

Re: To counter that other disgusting thread

It's brilliant - womens tennis now. The quality of matches at Madrid this week made headlines in Spanish papers. It's like they all discovered this secret- the WTA is exciting filled with ambitious great players with sublime technique.

I think they sort of stole the thunder of the ATP in Shanghai. There's no race for #1 or real rivalries there.

I'm glad there's an Amelie, Kim, Maria, Sveta, Nadia and a Hingis for Justine to play against. Great players need each other to be lifted to bigger heights.

I don't like Hardenne althought she is atm the best player in the world and that lasts already 2 1/2 years if she's fit.

Re: To counter that other disgusting thread

Great post, pigham. I was cringing while reading that thread. Overly rabid Juju fans should take a deep look at themselves and realize what resentment they cause by such antagonistic behaviour...

There's a bit of Justine in all of us.

"The great thing about Henin and Federer is that each of them is a beautiful player and a superior competitor, so the divide is effectively bridged. Have there ever been a pair of No. 1 players who so fully represent the abundantly gifted as well as the fully-ripened competitor?"

Re: To counter that other disgusting thread

Well done JHH, 2006 Year End #1, YEC Champion, All Slam Finalist, RG Champion, holder of the best match record in 2006 at 61-8 and bragging rights for the most titles in 2006. JHH dominated women's tennis in 2006.

There is no doubt in my mind that JHH is the Player Of The Year.

Acknowledgements to Ame and Pova who proved to be excellent foils for JHH during 2006 and whose accomplishments were also spectacular and personal bests for each.

Looking forward to 2007, lets all hope the injury bug takes a year off so that all the girls in the WTA can compete near their highest levels throughout. The WTA rocked in 2006 and the YEC was just amazing, thrilling, exciting, dramatic and entertaining in Madrid and played for high stakes. Women's tennis is where the action is.

Well, I can't wait for next year... with Justine, Amelie and Sharapova being the best 3 players in the world right now, coupled with Serena and Venus' return, Kim's last swansong and the emergence of Nicole and Jelena, it would be a fight to the end for the Slams next year.

And do expect fireworks

By the way, here's to a great year, Justine!

P.S: I saw this in the other post, but I don't get the meaning. Can someone tell me what is it about?
