Which was the best year for Justine: 2003 or 2006?

In an interview today, Justine said this was her best season. However, in 2003 and 2006, Justine finished the year as number #1 player. Which was the best in your opinion?

2003:
RG and USO titles; AO, W and YEC SF
8 titles (2 GS, 4 Tier I, 2 Tier II), in 18 tournaments
No Fed Cup
72-11 W/L

2006:
RG and YEC titles; AO, W and USO finals
6 titles (1GS, 1 YEC, 4 Tier II), in 13 tournaments
Fed Cup final
60-8 W/L
She was in all major finals, and won tournaments in all surfaces

Go Brazilian girls!

In my opinion, even though 2006 was a pretty good year, I think 2003 was better

2006 was a better year in some respects and she was probably just as dominating as in 2003, as don't forget Serena was dominating for a lot of 2003as well, so that wasn't just Justine's year either. But at the end of the day she won two slams in 2003 and one in 2006. That's what counts for me

Re: Which was the best year for Justine: 2003 or 2006?

I feel iffy in this question. Justine took over the torch from Serena Williams in 2003, and that season will be remembered as having 2 halves dominated by two greats.

In 2006, Justine had a clear goal, to play a full season through out and she did. She only played 13 events and won 6...we already know what records she reached this year, but I always felt that when there's a big tourmanent on the line, it is Justine Henin-Hardenne that MUST BE the one to beat in order to win the whole thing. She is the true #1 and I say both 2003 and 2006 seasons are very special to her.

Hard to compare them, but I'd still rate 2006 slightly higher.

Far less disappointment and bigger titles in 2003.

Not easy 2 compare which season was the best 4 justine. they both were successful seasons 4 her but i reckon 2006 was just a tad better 4 me personally reaching all 4 slam finals (winning RG), the YEC final (winning there) & the Fed Cup Final. but it's not that easy 2 compare really.

I'm just proud that she's got 2 best seasons and not just one!

Let's hope 2007 will be another one to compare 2003 and 2006 to

no way!, in 2007 it needs to be better! 3 or 4 slams (doesn't mean i won't be full of joy if she 'only' won wimbledon though )

Re: Which was the best year for Justine: 2003 or 2006?

Statistically I suppose 2003 was better, but not by much. Emotionally though 2006 was incredible: The AO final debacle, then winning Dubai, and FO was a great comeback. Losing the Wimbledon and USO finals was devastating, but her heroic effort to get Belgium to the Fed Cup finals and nearly winning the finals with a serious injury was amazing. Then after a long injury absence she comes into the YEC beating Maria to become #1 then Amelie to win the title! Talk about a rollercoaster season!! I guess she is a drama queen-LOL!!
