I hate to ask but now the season's over when will Monica announce her retirement?

Do you think she'll have a large press conference?
Would she have already retired if she were going to and is simply waiting to play next season becasue she is good to go again? ( I hope so)

Will she retire quietly much like she's been the last few years?

Let's discuss

Lorena Ochoa
Julieta Granada Minea Blomqvist Sophia Sheridan Suzann Pettersen Annika Sorenstam Paula Creamer Grace Park

Yes Monica will retire.
The words out of Seles' mouth were, if you didn't see her on court playing by the end of summer, she was going to retire.

"Everybody always said I didn't get that job because my wife is white. If you're not strong enough to look through that then you have the issue."
-Charlie Strong, assistant head coach of the Florida Gators

Black presidents of the US=1
Black head coaches in the SEC=0
Something needs to change.

Hardly…… Not whilst she’s still collecting her sick pay. Think of all the contracts and endorsements she still gets…if she retires she has not fulfilled her contractual obligations....so she's waiting until the doctors won't give her any more sicknotes...which will be never... then she'll announce retirement

I think that a lot of players prolong the retirement announcement to avoid the unnecessary fanfare.

Мари́я Ю́рьевна Шара́пова , Јелена Јанковић, Venus Williams.

she doesn't even appear on Yonex ads anymore. whether she really bothers about those endorsements, we can't be sure.

think she just wants to leave quietly..

and yes I would love to see her ending her career at the US Open or Aust Open with a ceremony she much deserves.

You are and will always be the greatest ever!! We miss you Monica!
Ferrero get back to the top soon where you belong!!!
Grand old man of Tennis Andre Agassi - All-time most adored & well-loved & respected player ~ we'll miss you
I look at people like Andre Agassi and Monica Seles, and of course what they did. I was always amazed at how Monica came back after so long and did so well. I try to keep that as an inspiration. He who doubts loses. (Serena Williams)

I think Lindsay might announce her retirement before Monica does how long has been since she last played a match?

She will announce her retirement after all her endorsement contracts end.

I hate to admit that we'll never see Monica on court again but I do wish she would officially retire so the countdown to her induction into the Hall Of Fame can begin

She should at least hold a press conference. I think RG would be a great place for her retirement ceremony, it was where she made her first slam semi, won her first Slam and won what many consider to be the greatest match of all time. And Steffi should present it.

So then what word suffices for Graf, who through 1987 to 1993, played 26 slams and reached 21 finals (won 14), the semi-finals three times, the quarters twice. Not once in that period did she lose earlier.
